Amazon's Kindle; the iPod for the written word?
News from Techcrunch; the second generation Amazon Kindle will be out this year (and may be available in fetching pink, too). It’s still in the US only, and just in time for Xmas.
It’s Amazon’s electronic ‘reader’, and they sell hundreds of thousands of book titles, offer free access to Wikipedia, and have various other functionalities and services to access different types of content.
You’ve got to think that if devices like these begin to access the internet, specifically news sites, on a free and easy basis, then the printed newspaper’s days are probably even shorter than the current downward trend suggests…
